Project ADVANCE Code of Conduct
The guiding principles of Project ADVANCE are based on Dr. Alf Lizzio’s (2006) Five Senses Model. Within this framework our program is rooted in supporting students in developing the following:
• A sense of connection with campus services, supports and peers
• A sense of capability by being exposed to academic expectations and tools (such as Moodle) prior to classes beginning
• A sense of purpose by examining areas strengths as they relate to program of choice
• A sense of resourcefulness by developing knowledge of the supports and services available on campus and how to access these supports and connect with professors prior
• A sense culture by engaging with peers and Student Accessibility Services staff
All members of the Project ADVANCE community are to be treated with respect and dignity.
Active and engaged students are aware of their rights, but more importantly, they accept responsibility for protecting their rights and the rights of others. In general, students who participate in Project ADVANCE will adhere to the York University Student Code of Conduct.
Please refer to the Student Code of Conduct located at: http://www.yorku.ca/oscr/pdfs/CodeofRightsandResponsibilities.pdf
The Coordinator of Project ADVANCE reserves the right to ask a student to leave the program. Any concerns the Coordinator might have about a student’s conduct will be discussed with the student. Ways of resolving these concerns will be addressed and outlined in writing. If the problematic behavior continues, the Coordinator will ask the student to withdraw from the program.
